In terms of water treatment or solid liquid separation, filter press is one of ideal equipment. Among these components, filter plates and filter cloth play an important role in the filtration process. Both of them influence the filtration performance and results. The function of filter plates in filtration process

The filter plate is mainly used for holding filter cloth during filtering process. Generally speaking, filter plates should be extremely durable and corrosion resistant, so as to meet requirements in different industries. During filtration process, all filter plates will be pressed tightly and form multiple filter chambers, where solid materials are left and form into filter cakes. In addition, filter plates also suffer huge pressure so as to make sure good filtration performance.

The dimensions of filter plates range from 450mm*450mm to 2000mm*2000mm. The common filter plates include recessed filter plate (center feed and corner feed), membrane squeeze filter plate and plate-and-frame filter plate.

The function of filter cloth in water treatment

The filter cloth is used for separating solid materials from liquid, and it is attached to the filter plate. Cloths include mono-filament, multiple-filament and mono-multiple filament. And its raw materials usually are polypropylene, nylon and polyester.

With the help of filter plates and filter cloth, solid materials will be separated and become relatively dry filter cakes for disposal or recycling.

Note: In view of the importance of filter plate and filter cloth in solid liquid separation, we should pay more attention to their selection. For example, when operating temperature is over 180℃, you should choose polyester cloths.
