Sludge dewatering is a core step in wastewater treatment for sand washing plants, quarries, mines and aggregate production lines. Many project owners care most about one key indicator: the moisture content of the filter cake discharged from the filter press.
Filter press site

In most working conditions, the raw sludge pumped into the filter press carries a very high water ratio. Normally, the moisture content of untreated sludge can reach more than 90%. This kind of fluid sludge is difficult to stack and transport, and it easily causes secondary pollution and overflow problems on site.

After solid-liquid separation by our filter press, the moisture content of the finished filter cake can be reduced to 40%–60%. The dewatered cake is firm and non-flowing, which supports direct loading and outward transportation without extra drying treatment.
Filter press process

It is worth noting that the final cake moisture is not fixed. It varies greatly according to the properties of different slurries, including particle size, mineral composition and concentration of the feed sludge. To achieve better dewatering results, operators can add suitable flocculant before feeding the slurry into the filter press. Flocculant can gather fine solid particles together, speed up the filtration cycle and optimize the overall dewatering effect.

A stable filter cake moisture rate means lower transportation cost, simpler on-site management and easier compliance with local environmental requirements. Our filter press solutions are widely used for sand washing wastewater, mine sludge, stone cutting slurry and other solid-liquid separation scenarios.
