A 70 m² membrane filter press has been shipped to South Korea for sludge dewatering in zinc oxide wastewater treatment.

A 70 m² membrane filter press has been shipped to South Korea for sludge dewatering in zinc oxide wastewater treatment. The zinc-bearing sludge produced after chemical precipitation contains a high proportion of fine particles and is relatively sticky, so the filter cake tends to adhere to the filter cloth after pressing. Incomplete discharge would reduce efficiency and increase manual cleaning. To address this, the filter press is equipped with membrane squeezing plus an automatic filter-plate shaking function.

The main specifications are: filtration area 70 m², chamber volume 1,050 L, filtration pressure 0.8 MPa, squeezing pressure 1.2 MPa, center feed, open/closed flow dual discharge, and reverse air blowing. Overall dimensions are 6,580 × 1,800 × 1,800 mm, and net weight is 6,680 kg. During operation, the slurry first passes through center feed for filtration, after which the membrane squeezes the filter cake at 1.2 MPa for secondary dewatering. This further removes free water, lowers the cake moisture content, and reduces cake volume, thereby cutting downstream transportation and disposal costs. Center feed helps achieve a more uniform slurry distribution in the chambers, while dual discharge and reverse air blowing meet liquid drainage and pipeline cleaning requirements.

The automatic filter-plate shaking function is a key feature. During discharge, the shaking action helps the sticky filter cake loosen and fall off quickly, reducing residue on the filter cloth and manual intervention. This improves automated continuous operation and reduces operators’ exposure to heavy-metal-bearing sludge. The equipment is compact and well targeted, offering a practical “high-pressure squeezing + automatic discharge” configuration for zinc oxide wastewater and similar heavy-metal sludge dewatering projects. The equipment has now been shipped, and its on-site commissioning and operating performance will be worth following.
