Both chamber filter press and membrane filter press consists of quality framework, filter plates and filter cloths. During working process, all filter plates are tightly pressed by hydraulic system, so as to compete with pressure produced by slurry feed pump and prevent slurry leakage. The slurry pump send wastewater into filter press. The slurry solid will be captured between each two filter plates. Meanwhile, the filtrate water will pass through filter cloths and flow out. When no additional wastewater can be pumped into filter press, the slurry pump will be stopped. And then, you can loosen pressure and pull filter plates to make filter cakes fall out of the press.

What’s the filter press cycle?

The BBNEP filter press belongs to intermittent filtering equipment. The steps for completing a filtration are called a filter press cycle. A typical filter press cycle includes filter plates closing, wastewater filling, filtration, membrane squeeze and filter plate unclamping and filter cakes discharge.

  1. Filter plates closing

When the filtration begins, all filter plates will be pressed tightly by keep plate with hydraulic pressure. When all filter plates are compressed together, the hydraulic pressure should be high enough to withstand the pressure produced by slurry pump inside chambers.

  1. Wastewater filling

At the beginning, the feed rate of slurry pump is high and the feed pressure is low. The wastewater is sent to filter chambers.

  1. Filtration (solid liquid separation)

The filter cloth separate solid materials in wastewater from liquid. The solid materials are left in filter chambers. Gradually, chambers are filled up with solid materials, and the slurry flow rate will be reduced. When no water flows out, you can stop slurry pump.

  1. Membrane squeeze (this is for membrane filter press)

Only membrane filter press has this step. You can aerate membrane filter plates with air or water, so as to make them expand. The expansion of membrane filter plates will further reduce the moisture of filter cakes.

  1. Filter plate unclamping and filter cakes discharge

When all dewatering steps are over, you can relieve the high hydraulic clamping pressure. Then you can manually pull filter cakes to discharge filter cakes. If it is automatic filter press, automatic plate shifters will move filter plates.
