The sludge filter press consists of rack, filter plates and filter cloths. During working process, the keep plate will tightly press all filter press plates. And the pressure on the joint face of each filtering plate must withstand the pressure produced from sludge pump.

Generally speaking, the sludge will enter filter press by feeding hole on the end of filter press. In addition, all holes on the center of filter plates will form a channel to make sludge pass through. Because filter press cloth is finely or tightly meshed, solid materials will be blocked and accumulate in the filter chambers until compact filter cakes are formed. Meanwhile, the filtrate will flow out and be collected.

1. Forming closed filter chambers: When the filter plates starts, the keep plate will push all filter plates together.
2. Feeding sludge: The pump will send sludge into filter chamber. The filling time depends on the flow of the feed pump.
3. Filtration: The solid liquid separation of sludge occurs in the filter chambers. When no water flows out, filter cakes are formed.
4. Opening filter plates: The moving head is drawn back to disengage the first filter plate. The cake falls down due to its own weight. The automatic plate shifter will draw filter plates one by one to discharge filter cakes.
